Are you interested in planning ahead? If you have an idea of how you’d like to be remembered, it’s an excellent time to make an appointment to discuss end of life options at GMCT’s 19 cemeteries and memorial parks. 

Planning and purchasing ahead of time means your loved ones have peace of mind knowing they are honouring your memory in a way you have personally chosen. With inner city cemetery land in high demand, pre-purchasing now will also give you increased choice in securing a final resting place.

I‘m interested in pre-purchasing. What is the first step?

While being prepared ensures you can make quality decisions, the range of options available can be overwhelming.

Before you make an appointment, think about which GMCT cemeteries you are interested in and the type of memorial that meets your needs. Begin by asking yourself the basics: do I want to be cremated, buried or interred in a mausoleum? Might I need additional positions for family? Which cemetery is preferred for me and my family? How do I want to be remembered – for example – with a rose, plaque or monument?

GMCT’s customer care team is available for an initial discussion to provide you with the information you need on options for pre-purchase at our cemeteries. You can call the GMCT customer care line on 1300 022 298 or speak with them in person at GMCT’s cemetery receptions at Lilydale Memorial Park, Fawkner Memorial Park and Altona Memorial Park.

Are my options the same across all GMCT cemeteries?

The options available vary across our cemeteries. We recommend enquiring with the GMCT customer care team or visiting the Locations and Resources sections on this website to learn more about what is available at your chosen location.

When should I book my appointment?

You should make an appointment with GMCT when you have thought about how and where you’d like to be remembered and are ready to pre-purchase a position.

Appointments are designed to finalise your selection, complete application forms and discuss payment arrangements.

How far in advance do I need to arrange my appointment?

If you need an appointment in a specific time frame, we recommend booking three to four weeks in advance.

What happens during my appointment?

During your appointment, GMCT’s client service staff will discuss the available options with you based on your preferences and help you finalise your selection. If your appointment is at the cemetery of your choice, you can also tour your preferred location(s).

Can I pay at my appointment?

Payment may be made (in full - no deposits are taken) on the day of your appointment, or alternatively you can request an invoice to be paid within 14 days.

Your client services consultant will be able to go through this process in detail with you during your appointment.

GMCT’s accepted methods of payment are:

  • Credit card payments in person or via phone. Either VISA or Mastercard is accepted. Please note American Express is not available.
  • Bank or personal cheque – in the name of ‘The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust’ 
  • Direct deposit - into GMCT’s Commonwealth Bank account (BSB and Account nos are listed on the invoice). Please note cash payments are not available.

I’d like an appointment with the client services consultant that I’ve met previously. Is this possible?

GMCT understands the value in meeting with a trusted and familiar face. All efforts will be made to schedule appointments with a specific consultant where such a request is made, conditional on availability. How do I book my appointment? From 1 July 2018, all GMCT prices will increase in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of 2.2%. Current prices will apply to all eligible pre-purchases made on or before 30 June 2018.
