Elizabeth Chong, Renowned Chinese Chef
A renowned chef who came to Australia from Guangzhou when she was three years old, Chinese food became common fare in Australian homes by the 1990s. She was a celebrity chef before the term was invented. Through her cooking school, books and TV shows, Australians have a better cultural understanding of Chinese cuisine. Elizabeth Chong is featured in our One Million Stories Exhibition.
