Elizabeth Chong, Reknowned Chinese Chef

A renowned chef who came to Australia from Guangzhou when she was three years old, Chinese food became common fare in Australian homes by the 1990s. She was a celebrity chef before the term was invented. Through her cooking school, books and TV shows, Australians have a better cultural understanding of Chinese cuisine. Elizabeth Chong is featured in our One Million Stories Exhibition. You can listen to more of her fascinating stories and even her father’s story in the museum – He was the person who invented the famous Aussie Dim Sim.
