About Chinese Museum Dragon Boat Festival

GMCT is honored to once again partner with the Chinese Museum to celebrate this vibrant cultural event. Our partnership acknowledges the rich history of Chinese Australians in our cemeteries and memorial parks and GMCT’s role preserving cultural heritage.

The Dragon Boat Festival marks the fifth day of the fifth lunar month and is a day to remember legendary Chinese poet, Qu Yuan.

Everyone is welcome at this free family-friendly event, combining fun activities, traditional food, storytelling and of course the popular and colourful dragon boats. Free festival admission does not require a booking and includes free access to the five storey Chinese Museum.

At The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, we are committed to partnering with our diverse communities and celebrating those who have shaped contemporary, multicultural Melbourne.
