Northern Memorial Park extension

The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust remains committed to providing burial options for diverse communities in the northern metropolitan region, and has commenced construction of a 58 HA extension to the north of the existing Northern Memorial Park site.

This site is being developed in stages in accordance with a carefully designed master plan. GMCT’s vision is to create a beautiful memorial park in harmony with the natural landscape. Over time this area will transform into a peaceful place, flourishing with native flora and fauna, where visitors can remember their loved ones, engage in private reflection, or seek sanctuary from the busy built environment.

The new Snow Gum Monumental area features 2128 common foundation graves, and is the first area released in this new section of GMCT parkland, which will focus on native Victorian flora and fauna. 2550 ‘directional monumental’ graves, and 2088 lawn plaque graves are currently under construction.

Please note: entry to the Northern Memorial Park extension is currently via the new May Street entrance off Box Forest Road. Internal roadways will connect the new and existing areas in the next phase of construction.

This is a major initiative for GMCT, and will extend the capacity of Northern Memorial Park for approximately 25 more years. For any enquiries relating to the Northern Memorial Park extension, please email us or phone 1300 022 298.
