The early construction phase at Harkness Memorial Park is nearing completion, with boundary tree planting now finished and preparations underway for major works to begin in December.
Early works complete
Over recent months, the construction team has completed initial earthmoving, grading, and stormwater drainage works.
Boundary tree planting is now complete, with species including Iron Bark and Grey Box Eucalypts, Acacias and Casuarinas carefully selected for their resilience, beauty, and connection to the local Melton landscape.
These trees will be established in the landscape well ahead of the park’s opening in early 2027.

What’s next?
The main construction phase is expected to start in December 2025, with a short break over the holiday period.
Over the coming months, you may notice the following activity on site:
Site-wide groundworks and levelling
Main building construction
Landscaping works
Internal roads paving
All works will be contained within the site’s temporary fencing. While we’ll make every effort to minimise disruption, local residents may notice some additional dust, construction-related noise, and increased traffic along Harkness Road during this time.
We will continue to keep our neighbours informed of any works that may directly impact them.
