Construction is continuing on Stage 2 of the River Red Gum Precinct at Northern Memorial Park. This project is delivering new memorial spaces and upgraded infrastructure to better serve our community.
Current road closures and access
As part of these works, we are widening the River Red Gum Circuit. The May Street entrance and the western end of the River Red Gum Circuit are temporarily closed, with no public vehicle or pedestrian access to this section of the park.
Alternative access
Visitors can access the park via alternative entrances on:
Ogden and Evell Street, Glenroy
Main entrance at Box Forest Road, Glenroy
Clear signage and fencing will be in place to help guide you through the park.

Timeline
Construction began in early October and is expected to be completed by Thursday 18 December 2025.
What remains open
All memorial areas remain accessible and there will be no disruption to funeral services.
Dust management
Recent weather has caused some challenging onsite conditions and increased dust around the construction zone. We are working closely with our contractor to improve dust control measures and reduce any impact on neighbours and visitors.
