Victorian Parliament has recently passed the Domestic Animals Amendment (Rehoming Cats and Dogs and Other Matters) Bill 2025.
The Bill includes an amendment to the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003, which, when in effect, will give cemeteries the option to permit pet remains, including ashes, to be buried or placed within existing graves or in designated sections.
What this means for you
While we appreciate this is exciting news for many pet owners, it’s important to note that this amendment is not yet in effect and currently, pet interments are not permitted.
We’ll await further advice and guidance from the Department of Health once the amendment is formally enacted before considering what, if any, changes we will make to our own policies and practices.
Thanks for your understanding and support.
