About Footscray General Cemetery
Opened in 1869, there have been approximately 19,000 burials at the cemetery to date, making the cemetery a well-known landmark for generations of Melburnians in the western suburbs.
In May 2016 Maribyrnong City Council, in their capacity as the Footscray General Cemetery Trust (Class B), engaged GMCT as a Class A trust to operate and manage the day-to-day activities of the cemetery on their behalf.
There are no new memorial options available at Footscray General Cemetery.
