Yarra Glen Cemetery future works

We are conducting an extensive search to check if there are any historical unmarked graves from the 1900s in the Wesleyan and Lawn areas.

As part of the ongoing management of Yarra Glen Cemetery, we are planning new grave works in the Wesleyan and Lawn areas of the cemetery to meet the needs of Victorian families.

Prior to commencing any works, we are conducting an extensive search to check if there are any historical unmarked graves from the 1900s in these areas.

Why we need family members or descendants to contact us

Previous cemetery trusts weren’t able to map grave locations as we have the ability to do now and the records that we inherited from the original manager of the Yarra Glen Cemetery are not conclusive as to the location of the individuals listed in the public notice.

We are requesting that families and descendants come forward in the hope that they may have further information as to the location of their ancestor within the cemetery grounds.

Prior to the future cemetery works we need to locate any historical unmarked graves and ensure that these graves remain undisturbed.

Are you a family member or descendant?

We have placed public notice signs on site and an advertisement in the local paper seeking contact from the family or descendants of the individuals buried in the Wesleyan and Lawn areas at Yarra Glen Cemetery.

You can view the public notice here.
